First Fridays is a monthly cultural event highlighting local artists, performers, exhibits, and more! Stop by one of the many art galleries offering new exhibits and special performances, then make a night of it in downtown!
First Fridays’ primary purpose is to highlight the organizations and spaces that are bringing local, regional, and even national art to the Lynchburg community. Downtown Lynchburg has an ever-expanding tradition of art, culture, dining, and shopping.
New in October 2024 and occurring annually each fall: Innovative, Independent, International & Local Films at the Academy Center of the Arts, by Future Contingents in partnership with James River Arts.
Beyond the films, the festival is an opportunity for our local filmmaking community to meet and connect with each other, share ideas, start collaborations, and discuss their own film projects.
We’re proud to bring Power Tools Racing again in 2025 as a featured event at the annual MAKER FAIRE LYNCHBURG.
We invite you to this family friendly competitive event. Simple rules, tons of fun!
Take a hand-held power tool, turn it a custom racing machine, and compete with your friends and neighbors. Don’t forget to decorate your racer and give it a bold name. Makers of all ages competed for prizes and bragging rights!
A family friendly, weekend long event from August 12th through August 13th, 2023. We welcome art installations of all shapes and sizes, even performances, through out Lynchburg and the surrounding counties. Decorate your front yard, driveway, balcony, or windows- as long as your public art is visible from the road or sidewalk!
